AFTER SCHOOL TUTORING
At RACS students are required to stay for mandatory tutoring based on their academic needs. Students take benchmark exams at the end of each academic quarter and based on the results of the benchmarks, students are placed in mandatory tutoring in different academic subjects based on their needs. Our students’ achievement is the ultimate goal for us and we want to make sure that all of our students get the individualized attention and support that they may need in order to succeed. After school tutoring is one of the ways that we support our individual student achievement. Our highly qualified teachers work with small groups of students to ensure success.
After school tutoring is mandatory for students who have been assigned. It is very critical that parents and the school work together to make sure that the students attend the after school tutoring sessions. Students are not excused from after school tutoring unless it is an emergency. For students who do not attend the after school tutoring sessions, there will be after school detention assigned.
SATURDAY SCHOOL AT RACS
Saturday School is designed to allow at-risk students to receive extra support in the areas of English Language Arts and Mathematics. We would like to assure that our students receive the support that they need in order to be prepared to tackle the high-school level work after middle school. Students receive grade level instruction from their classroom teachers in order to support their academic standing. We are also working with Watts Academic Tutoring to implement a computer based program (A+ LS) that will enhance and enrich our students’ academic performance. Our goal is to assist our students to compete with the current demands of the educational system.
Students are assigned to attend Saturday School based on their benchmark exam and practice exam results with teacher recommendation. If your child has been assigned for Saturday School, please make sure that you encourage them to attend. In addition to the academic support, Saturday School Program also prepares students for the New York State English Language Arts and the Mathematics Test to be conducted in every year. The hours of the Saturday School are 9:00 AM until 11:30 AM. Students are provided with snacks during Saturday School.
A+ Anywhere Learning System
The A+ Anywhere Learning System curriculum and learning program is one of the instructional resources that is being used during Saturday School. The A+LS courseware contains over 5,500 lessons and over 200,000 content pages of research and objective-based, problem-solving courseware — plus assessment, alignment and curriculum management tools.
