Message From Our Principal

Samuel Martina

Dear RACS Family,

It is with great pride that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Rochester Academy Charter High School for the 2023-24 school year. I begin this new opportunity with over twenty years of educational experience (both locally and internationally) spanning grades 7-12 with a specialization in the teaching of Language Arts, literacy development, and technology-based enrichment opportunities.

Due to our modest size, the staff at RACS get to wear many hats.  In my time here, I’ve been fortunate enough to be an ELA teacher, an assistant principal, a COVID coordinator, a caretaker of the district emergency management plan, and a doctoral researcher…but these are just some of the official responsibilities.  Like all staff, we also assume a number of unofficial roles such as mentor, caretaker, and role model.  Whether we are a teacher, an administrator, a student care assistant, a custodian, a secretary, a coach, or a tutor, what we do at RACS boils down to two fundamental things: we teach, and we care.

Along with the staff, I will work hard to continue the proud tradition of accomplishment established at RACS High School by building strong relationships with parents, students, staff, and community partners. During the course of the year, it is my hope that we will work collaboratively to provide the students the best opportunities possible.  We will help prepare students to anticipate and master the challenges of the future by focusing on character education, 21st Century learning skills, use of data to inform instruction, and challenging enrichment opportunities for all students.

We will continue to foster a welcoming environment, so my door is always open and I welcome your input. Please feel free to make an appointment to discuss any concerns, suggestions, or ideas.  If we work together to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of our children, I anticipate a very successful school year.

Respectfully,

Samuel Martina EdD
