Rochester Academy Charter School it provided me a lot of perspective that I didn't have before I have personally grown a lot from the information and ideas that my peers have shared from their personal experiences to their cultural perspectives I hope that they will never let their voices be silenced never let their ideas Fall on deaf ears and never let themselves doubt their perspectives and their importance I feel like coming to racks and meeting the people that I've met over 4 years has allowed me to like be my myself more than I was the past couple years and I've opened up and I've made like amazing and like friendships I watch my son grow to a kid that just wanted to be the number 1 he wanted to do excellent things and I'm like where did this come from and it was an excellent to watch him grow and develop into the young man that he is today got the phone call and he said he was guess what that and I made my world you will not be where we are together without the support of the families and friends who are sitting here supporting us today I can honestly say that without the constant encouragement from administrators counselors coaches and teachers we now realize we be without them and most importantly we will not be here without each other it's not even in school it's more like a family for the past couple years my daughter she become a moo young lady the first thing about what's in a risk is probably hang around with friends and the environment especially play sports with my friends um for like 4 years now and it's I love it it was very positive and fun always like we always try to uplift each other trust your potential living yourself seek wisdom from others he never stopped learning my son has gone through a lot growing up a lot of personal traumas and the school understood where other schools may not have understood when I lost my father in the ninth grade the teachers could all see it on my face they could read my body language they could tell someone's off about me they always told me Chris if you need somebody to talk to you got me Chris you're not alone you're going to leave here today and you're going to go into places that weren't built with you in mind you're going to to tables when No 1 looks like you but you know what and be bold anyway the world does not need a smaller version of you it needs exactly who you are today enjoy how racks cares about their students sets them apart from other schools because the teacher is really tried a breast to push students to their best of their capability I am the first person in my family to graduate rex have a lot of people to push you to go achieve what you need achieve next year I'm going to go to RIT after graduation she's going for film and business to Temple University in college I plan on studying criminal justice and psychology um racks gave me the lead weigh the push I didn't think I could have a future and the teachers kept telling me Chris you going to make it Chris you will make it I'll be attending the University of Rochester class 2030 and I'll be pursuing pre Optometry Rex that's kind of propelled that interest and and by my uh interest within Optometry after graduation I'm going to Delaware State University to study biochemistry and from there I wanted to become an anesthesiologist what I would say to another parent that's considering Rex is to do it go if you're thinking about sending your kid direct so I think that would be a great opportunity uh they go above and beyond
