They presented engaging lecture-demonstrations to our students which captivated their imaginations and inspired thought-provoking questions. One lecture was facilitated by a student from RIT with a computer science major. His focus was video game creation and design. The other presenter was a veterinarian from the U of R. His focus was zoo animal biology. The morning ended with a video that highlighted S.T.E.P., which stands for Science, Technology, Entry program. Each of the featured colleges participates in the STEP or CSTEP program and employed our students to start thinking about their futures as college attendees. The STEP/CSTEP program offers students from disadvantaged backgrounds and under-represented ethnic groups access to tutors, financial assistance, and supporting community when they enter college.
