Students gathered with faculty and staff, to celebrate all of their hard work and achievements during the Honors assembly. Acknowledgments for Great Behavior and Perfect Attendance were given with a round of applause. Students cheered on their peers as they were awarded with the High Honor Roll and President's Award. We love how supportive our students are!
Our guest speaker, Regent Wade Norwood, was thoroughly impressed by our students accomplishments. He encouraged our students to continue to strive for excellence in the classroom, giving historical references of how others have been sidelined due to their lack of quality education or technology. Mr. Norwood shared his passion for science and the leaders he has looked up to the most, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Frederick Douglas. He shared his favorite quote from Douglas, “Where there is no struggle, there is no progress.”
Mr. Norwood has more than a 30 year record of service with the Rochester City Council. His passion for education and for the youth or Rochester NY to excel in every level of higher education was inspiring to our students. “We need you, your courage, academic excellence and your love!” exclaimed Mr. Norwood. Our future as a community and a world depends on the the bright minds of our students.
Thank you Mr. Norwood!
