Academic Overview

Rochester Academy Charter School is committed to putting academics first.  Teachers strive to make students responsible for cognitive work during each lesson, so a visit to our classrooms would show students engaged in academic discussion and discovery.   As a charter school our job is to go above and beyond what is offered in the traditional school setting and provide students with the support that they need to overcome the learning gaps that are all too common for students in urban environments.  We use student achievement data and diagnostic testing to determine student needs and make plans to meet those needs.  Our students are encouraged to participate in programs to help them prepare for college and careers.  Not only have we developed successful programs in house, we have partnered with local organizations including Action for a Better Community and Monroe Community College to offer programs that are unmatched in other local secondary schools.
